What is an instance?

Redundant Web Services provides on-demand, scalable computing capacity. Using Redundant Web Services reduces hardware costs so you can develop and deploy your applications faster. You can use RWS to launch as many or as few virtual servers as you need, configure security and networking, and manage storage.

When you launch an instance, the instance type that you specify specify determines the hardware available in your instance. Each type of instance offers a different balance of compute, memory, network, and storage resources.
